Rivaldo Leacock Championship
Rivaldo Leacock Championship is a highly competitive, multi-school secondary track and field meet held annually. Named in honour of former Barbadian CARIFTA hurdles champion and NCAA Division I athlete Rivaldo Leacock, the event serves as an official precursor for the local school athletics season.
The story behind the meet
Opportunity, preparation and junior excellence
Established in 2020, the Rivaldo Leacock Championship is produced by Tempo Sports to expand meaningful competition for junior athletes. The event has grown into a key preparation meet ahead of BSSAC and brings schools, coaches, PE Teachers and supporters together around emerging talent.
The 2021 edition was paused because of COVID-19 concerns. The championship returned in 2022 and has been held every year since, building a record of performances, team success and highlighting outstanding first-form athletes.
